about us
Hey there! We’re Justin + Sunny, a couple of geeky, food-loving, music-making, math-and-tech-obsessed creators based in Baltimore. We started EatsyGeeksy to share our love of delicious food, nerdy delights, and the joy of making things from scratch. When we’re not cooking up new recipes (or debating the proper use of sugar in cornbread), we’re designing geeky greeting cards, tee shirts, and other fun merch—or chasing down the origins of an obscure ingredient, investigating how food trends shape what’s on our shelves, and keeping an eye on how the world around us impacts the way we cook, eat, and live.
meet justin
Equal parts math nerd and musician, Justin wrangles economic models and market data as a risk analyst (read: math sorcerer) by day, and the rest of his time is split between tweaking synths, perfecting photographic lighting techniques, earning bruises at the Krav Maga studio, and finishing up a Ph.D. in statistics, all while helping turn our creative ideas into reality. When not deep in numbers or gear, Justin is at the piano, adding to a growing SoundCloud collection of classical recordings. Passionate about problem-solving, Python, and the ever-shifting landscape of markets and inflation, Justin brings a sharp analytical edge to everything we do—whether that’s coding, cooking, lighting, or crafting the perfect playlist.
meet sunny
A creative whirlwind who spends her days wrangling a raging case of ADHD, Sunny is endlessly curious and always chasing the next big idea. This insatiable drive to learn and experiment fuels everything she does, especially in the kitchen, where she can be found perfecting classic recipes, testing out new techniques, or finding ways to prove once and for all that Hatch chiles are the holy grail of peppers. Beyond the kitchen, Sunny is a lifelong creator, bringing geeky designs to life through digital illustration, songwriting, and world-building for her Dungeons & Dragons campaigns. She’s always got a book (or five) in progress, is determined to make sense of Ableton and play guitar like Paul Gilbert, and when she’s not in the middle of a creative project, she’s usually on the road to Richmond to spend time with family.
Since the beginning, we have been a team… chasing creativity, curiosity, and probably way too many hobbies. Together, we’re on a mission to collect all the books, explore every beautiful camping spot in Maryland (especially if there’s water for kayaking), and make our home as functional and inspiring as possible. Yoga keeps us (somewhat) flexible, and our cat, Scarbo, keeps us deeply confused. But whatever we have done in our 15+ years together, or hope to do in the future, we consider ourselves #beawesomed and grateful that we get to share life’s adventures together.
about eatsygeeksy
Are you curious about cuisine? Ever wondered if McRibs are made of real meat? Do you want to learn a new culinary skill, find out if that viral TikTok kitchen gadget is worth having, or discover which poor, desperate soul first looked at the globby thing inside an oyster shell and thought, Yeah, I’ll eat that ? If these questions (or other burning curiosities) keep you awake at night, you’re in the right place!
EatsyGeeksy is all about exploring food from every angle — history, science, technique, and taste. Whether you’re looking for practical kitchen skills, deep dives into ingredients, or just some good old-fashioned food nerdery, we’ve got you covered with:
- recipes for home cooks of all levels.
- ingredient deep dives that answer the “what the heck is this?” questions.
- cooking technique how-to’s to help you build skills.
- product and cookbook reviews to save you time (and money).
- food news and trends to keep you in the loop.
We’re all about digging deeper, going beyond the surface, and satisfying that geeky need to understand the how, why, where, and when behind food and cooking. If that sounds like you, we think you’re going to feel right at home here.
Thank you for being here at the start of our journey! Our site is still young, and we’re adding new content every week. We’d love for you to drop us a line — let us know what you’d like to see, what questions you have, or even just what you’re cooking up in your own kitchen. We appreciate you, and we hope you’ll learn something new, try something fun, and make yourself something delicious while you’re here.
Let’s get geeky in the kitchen! 🎉
